Happy New Year to everyone!
This programme is a double header for our games on New Year’s Day and 5 January and were written well before our games versus Hitchin, Bedworth and Kings Lynn.
The biggest news of the year was the announcement regarding Frenches Field. The Trust has been eager to start some fund-raising since that news was made public but until a clear plan is in place this is a difficult thing to start. There are also improvements needed at our current home at Latimer Park, although the Club have stated that any additions to the infrastructure at Latimer Park will also be able to be moved to our new home at the relevant time.
The most talked about possible improvement to the ground amongst fans has been the idea of a “Tin Hat” at the Morrisons end of the ground. It is a widely held view that it would greatly improve the atmosphere -
particularly when it comes to games requiring segregation.
To this end, the Poppies Supporters Trust have decided to launch a “Tin Hat Fund” - in order to raise the money to put a Tin Hat at the Morrisons end of the ground - which can then be moved to a new facility in the future.
Having spoken to the Club, the stand will cost in the region of £25,000. This is a considerable sum which will, realistically, require a huge effort to achieve - but let's give it a go, you never know!"
The Trust will be launching several fundraising initiatives to try and achieve our goal - the first of which will be announced in the coming weeks. In the meantime, we have an account set up and ready - so anyone who wishes to simply make a donation to the fund can do so by paying into this account:
Please add the reference “Tin Hat Fund” for any donations.
can be found at Martin Bellamy’s table in the clubhouse, and at theprogramme table inside the turnstiles.
We hope you will support the Trust in its continuing efforts to raise money and donate in such a way to promote the aims and objectives of the Trust and to the benefit of the local community and supporters of the Club.
