Kettering Town 'Poppies' Supporter's Trust

Trust programme notes - King's Lynn - 14/08/2018

Posted on Tuesday September 18th 2018

Dear Supporter

There is nothing like the start of a new season – fans and players alike looking to forward to what might be.  Tonight we face Kings Lynn – we don’t need to remind ourselves that both us and the Linnetts missed out on promotion via the play-offs at the end of last season.  Absolutely no doubt that both teams will be looking to go one better this season.

Both our home pre-season games were cup matches with us losing out to Peterborough United in the Maunsell Cup Final but winning the Newland Shield against Bedford Town.  It was good to see the return of Marcus Kelly and Craig Westcarr to the Poppies.  It was not so good to see Aaron O’Connor sustain a knee injury during the game versus Bedford.  Hopefully, it is not a bad one.

Membership renewal forms have gone out to current members but, of course, anyone can join us.  The new membership year starts from 1 August 2018 and you can join at any time.  The fee is £12 for adults and U16s can join for free.  There is a lifetime membership of £100.

We made the members draw (from the list of members for 2017/18) recently for prize of two spaces in the sponsors lounge at a home game.  This was won by Michael Allen – congratulations Michael.

We will be setting up a semi-permanent base inside the ground during the season.  This will enable fans to drop off membership forms, buy 300 club tickets and just generally catch up with Trust Board members.  Thanks must go to David Mahoney for agreeing to this.

Our AGM and Race Night has been pencilled in for Friday 5 October 2018.  Full details to be confirmed over the coming weeks.  The race night, as usual, will be a joint one with the Dylan Cecil Memorial Fund.  The AGM will start at 1900 followed by the first race of the night at 2000.

Tonight’s game is going to be a tough one so let’s hope we can get off to a winning start with our first home game of the season.
