Following on from the recent news that the Secretary of State has approved the purchase of land at Frenches Field for the development of a future home for the Poppies, and that Kettering Town FC and Kettering Borough Council have confirmed that they have exchanged contracts relating to the purchase of the land - the Trust are delighted to announce the launch of our NEW HOME FUND.
Whilst there are still many hurdles to overcome before a new stadium is realised, this is another big step towards a return to Kettering for the Poppies.
We have an account set up, into which we will put a portion of any money raised from the 300 CLUB, and other fundraising events, in order to start building up a pot of money that can be put towards the costs of the new ground. We feel it is important to start the ball rolling now - rather than wait until nearer the time, as the costs are likely to be substantial, and any money we can raise will help towards those costs. We will continue to keep the rest of the money we raise in our current account, in order to be able to help the club out with other, more immediate projects.
The Trust also holds an extensive collection of memorabilia, and it has been a long held ambition to have somewhere to display it. We therefore hope to be able to put some of the money towards a “Poppies Museum” or display area within a club house.
In the event that the planned move falls through, then we will put any money raised towards redevelopment of the current facility at Latimer Park.
Anyone who wishes to make a one off donation to the fund, or to set up a standing order to make regular contributions, can do so using the following account details:
