Since the announcement of the agreement to purchase the land at Frenches Field for a new home for the Poppies, many people have been eager to start fundraising. Until a clear plan is in place though, this is a difficult thing to start. There are also improvements needed at our current home at Latimer Park, although the club have stated that any additions to the infrastructure at Latimer Park will also be able to be moved to our new home at the relevant time.
The most talked about possible improvement to the ground amongst fans has been the idea of a “Tin Hat” at the Morrisons end of the ground. It is a widely held view that it would greatly improve the atmosphere - particularly when it comes to games requiring segregation.
To this end, the Poppies Supporters Trust have decided to launch a “Tin Hat Fund” - in order to raise the money to put a Tin Hat at the Morrisons end of the ground - which can then be moved to a new facility in the future.
Having spoken to the club, the stand will cost in the region of £25,000. This is a considerable sum, which will realistically require a huge effort to achieve - but let’s give it a go - you never know!
The Trust have several fundraising initiatives to try and reach our target:
The first is the TIN HAT FUND - BOARD OF SPONSORS, which gives Supporters and local businesses the chance to have their names added to the new terrace, as well as on a special page on the Trust website. All the details can be found here: http://poppiestrust.co.uk/page/tin-hat-fund-board-sponsors
Secondly we have the SEASON TICKET RAFFLE - which, thanks to the generosity of a Poppies fan now living abroad, 2 lucky ticket holders will each receive a 2019/20 Season Ticket. The draw will be made on June 30th, so make sure you get your tickets before then: https://poppiestrust.co.uk/seasonticketraffle
We also have 2018/19 Season highlights DVDs, and Charlton v KTFC (1989 FA Cup round 4) DVDs available. Order yours here: https://poppiestrust.co.uk/post/201819-season-highlights-dvds-now-available
There will also be collection buckets at the ground on match days - which can be found at Martin Bellamy’s table in the clubhouse, and at the programme table inside the turnstiles.
Or by paying directly into the Trust TIN HAT FUND bank account:

Please add the reference “Tin Hat Fund” to any donations.
We hope you will support the Trust in it’s continuing efforts to raise money and donate in such a way to promote the aims and objectives of the Trust and to the benefit of the local community and supporters of the Club.
Up the Poppies!
