The Trust are saddened to hear of the untimely passing of David Wood - father of the young goalkeeper, Jacob Wood, who was badly injured during a pre-season match for the Poppies last year.

David made a substantial donation to the club towards the cost of a defibrillator, alongside the money donated by the Trust - in recognition of the excellent and timely treatment given to his son Jacob when he sustained his injury.

David's wife, Joantha, posted the following statement on Facebook:

"It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to write a post that I never imagined I would have to.
Due to complications following heart surgery a fortnight ago, David passed away on Wednesday 22nd June.
There are no words to describe how we are all feeling. Our lives were made richer and more joyful with him in it and his not being here has left a feeling and an emptiness I cannot even comprehend.
He was mine and our children’s world and it is a world that has forever changed. Hold those you love close.
Love you, my David."

The Trust extend our heartfelt condolences to Jacob, Joantha and all of David's Family and Friends.
