Kettering Town 'Poppies' Supporter's Trust

Programme notes for KTFC v St. Neots

Posted on Monday August 28th 2017

Dear Supporter

The Trust made its official presentation of a cheque totalling £2750 to David Mahoney at the home game versus Basingstoke.  This money has been specifically donated to the Club towards continuing pitch improvements.  Bill Pringle, long time Poppies fan and Trust Secretary presented the cheque to David.

We will also be making a £200 donation to Poppies TV as part of their archive footage project.

As you are already aware the Trust is not doing its 300 Club draw so as not to clash with the Club’s 12th man scheme.  We will have some kind of cash prize draw later in the year so look out for details in the near future.

On the fundraising front, we will he holding a race night in the Autumn and it is likely to be a joint charity one – again details to follow in due course.

Our AGM has been set for Friday 5 October 2017 – official notification will be sent to members at the beginning of September.

On the footballing front, congratulations to Rene on scoring his 50th goal for the Poppies against Basingstoke recently and what a splendid one it was too!  Rene dedicated that goal to Dylan Cecil who died tragically 5 years ago.  A minute’s applause was held at the beginning of that game.  We are all aware of the circumstances surrounding Dylan and it is tragedies like this that put football into perspective.  Dylan’s family set up a charity bearing his name to raise money to send families on holiday to Burnham on Sea.  Many of us involved with the Poppies have helped raised money for this worthwhile cause and keeping Dylan’s memory alive.

These notes were written before last Saturday’s away game to Kings Langley so hopefully we picked up 3 more points to keep our unbeaten start to the season ticking along nicely.
