With our AGM coming up on Friday 5 October it is a chance for the Trust Board to boost it numbers! So if you fancy joining the Board then pop along on the 5th at 1900 and sign up to a year of monthly meetings and idle Poppies gossip! The Board currently consists of 8 members, the newest of which is Lewis Horne. A lot of you know Lewis and it is good to have a young Poppies fan as part of our group. Lewis has penned a few words for today’s programme:
I started supporting the mighty Poppies around about 5 years ago. The first game that I remember would be the game against Redditch United at Steele Park. We sadly lost that game 1-0 but it was a great experience and I haven’t looked back since. Such a great club, with passionate fans, quality players, and of course some wins on the way.
I have been part of the supporters trust since the end of last season, and I tend to go to the meetings every month. Everyone at the meetings always show their passion for the club and how we can develop.
On match days, I do bits and pieces around the ground before we open the gates. Then I get the pleasure on putting on that mascot suit in 30 degrees heat and have a kick about with the kids. It’s always nice to see kids supporting their local team, getting to know them and hopefully enjoying their day with us. And I’m sure, with you fans their it would be an experience of a lifetime.
Keep up the good work everyone, you all do your part to help the club. Let’s get behind the boys against a tough Leiston side and hope for 3 Points. COYP!
Membership renewals are coming along nicely and we would like to thank everyone who has joined so far. The joining fee is £12 for adults and U16s can join for free. There is a lifetime membership of £100. We currently have 23 lifetime members. If you have a completed form you can either post it to our PO Box or hand it to a Trust Board member at a home game.
Our charity Race Night will also take place on Friday 5 October 2018. The race night is open to all – tickets are £5 each and you can pay on the door. Entrance includes sausage and chips. Doors are open to race night goers at 1930 and the first race is at 2000. You can sponsor a race for £10. Horses and jockeys are £3 each to buy and are on sale now in the Clubhouse before a game or you can contact us via the usual methods to make your purchase. There is also an opportunity to by tri-cast squares for £1 each. Profits from the race night will be split 50/50 between the Trust and the Dylan Cecil Memorial Fund. We hope you will support this event.
The Trust would like to pass on its belated condolences to Ann Beck following the passing of her husband Tony who was a long time Poppies fan and Trust member. Our thoughts are with Ann, family and friends.
