Hard to believe that this is our first home league game since September. All our home games over those weeks have involved the FA Cup, the FA Trophy and the CSS Challenge Cup. Unfortunately, we went out of the Trophy away to Stamford recently, having beaten tonight’s opponents in the previous round. We seem to be all or nothing in this competition – two finals 21 years apart and not much in between apart from the semi-final against Runcorn in the mid-80s. Based on those statistics I anticipate us making the final in 2021so make a note in your diary and keep that date free in 2021!
Following on from our AGM in October, the new Trust board voted in its Trust officials recently:
Karen Lewis – Chair
Mark Severn – Treasurer
Richard Atkinson – Secretary/Vice Chairman
Bill Pringle has stepped down as Secretary but remains on the Board. I would like to thank Bill for his efforts over the last few years in this role.
A couple of years ago the Trust donated money to the Club in order to provide a defibrillator. It is an essential life-saving step in the chain of survival in the event of cardiac arrest. It is also vital that the battery is changed periodically to ensure the defibrillator is always ready in case of emergency. To that end, the Trust has donated £230 to cover the cost of replacing the battery. Hopefully the unit will never need to be utilised but it is a great comfort to know that it is ready and waiting just in case. Many
thanks to all those who contribute to the work of the Trust, enabling us to provide continuing support to the Club and its fanbase in this way.
If you want to join the Trust, you can contact us via the details below - £12 for adults, £100 for lifetime membership, U16s free.
So now we are back to League action, tonight’s game will be a tough one. Stourbridge, at the time of writing these notes, sit just behind us in second place on the same points so this will be a big test but we do have the psychological advantage of beating them in our last meeting – surely that counts for something!
